Eat it up Yum is a nonprofit that teaches people how to live vibrant lives through allergy-friendly recipes and healthy daily habits.
In 2017, I founded Eat it up Yum because I deeply believe we can all live vibrant, healthy, and whole lives (even with food allergies and chronic diseases). Through Eat it up Yum, we offer:
- food & wellness education
- a recipe website with over 100 original recipes
- inspiring food photography and styling that inspires people to eat healthier food
- a weekly email with recipes and wellness strategies
- personal coaching on nutrition and lifestyle
- online courses & workshops
- local classes taught monthly
I do all this to help you live a vibrant life with food you can feel good about.
The problem:
People are experiencing chronic health problems at alarming rates. And the solutions are not easy to find. Maybe you have been there… wanting to talk to your doctor about nutrition but they don’t do that. Or seeking a more holistic approach to treatment, but they don’t offer that. Or searching endlessly online where everything is confusing and contradictory.
I created Eat it up Yum, to be a credible and trusty worthy source of food and wellness information. I provide a simple path forward to live the best version of yourself that you can.
No annoying ads, no gimmicks, no hidden agenda.
And everything I offer is FREE.
While trustyworthy sources and great medical care is hard to come by, food is not. Healthy food is accessible to everyone.
I teach people a way of eating healthy, whole foods free of gluten, grains, and dairy that can give life and vibrancy and even reverse some diseases.
Most people grew up on industrialized food and where never taught how to eat healthy, whole foods. Further more, navigating the change to a gluten-free, grain-free, and dairy-free diet can be overwhelming. I know this personally.
Twelve years ago, I sat on the floor of Whole Foods and cried.
It was Thanksgiving and I had just been diagnosed with Hashimotos disease and food allergies. I was standing in Whole Foods reading labels for hours trying to figure out what to eat. I was holding a binder with 200 pages of information about my new diagnosis.
I was so overwhelmed and discouraged that I didn’t know what else to do. So, I sat on the floor and cried.
It was a rough holiday season for sure. I couldn’t eat any of the comforting, nostalgic foods that I loved during the holidays. I watched everyone else eat cakes, pies, and cookies with abandon. I felt left out. Suddenly I didn’t feel like I belonged anymore.
Why was I crying over food? Because it was never really just about food.
Certainly I enjoyed baking, cooking, and eating yummy things. But far more than that, I loved the sense of belonging food gave me. Like when I was a teenager and I baked cookies every afternoon to show my siblings that I loved them. Like when friends came over and we cooked their favorite meal to show them that we cared. Like when everyone gathered over a holiday feast and we laughed about memories from holidays past. Like when my husband and I first started dating and he was sick. I made him chicken soup (that didn’t come from a can). That soup not only healed him, it made him want to marry me!
Clearly food is more than just about food.
Food creates memories, deepens relationships, helps us celebrate life, and it can make us feel like we belong.
Have you or a loved one ever experienced a diagnosis or intolerance to certain foods? If you have, you know it changes everything.
So many people I love have diseases, food allergies, food sensitives, food intolerances, that limit what they can eat. They can’t eat the way other people eat. It can be a lonely journey.
If this describes you, I want you to know:
I see you. You are not invisible to me. I created Eat it up Yum for YOU.
Eat it up Yum guides people on how to eat gluten-free, grain-free, and dairy-free whole foods that gives bodies life and vibrancy, allowing people to live well and whole and celebrate life.
So, join me in this journey to live vibrantly and help others do the same!
