Salsa is one of the easiest things to make. With just a few ingredients and a blender you can have delicious, restaurant-style salsa in less than 10 minutes.
Serve this salsa with some grain-free Siete chips, pour some cold drinks, and gather your friends. Now it’s a party!
Fire Roasted Salsa
- 2, 14.5 oz. cans fire roasted tomatoes, drained
- 1 medium yellow onion, peeled and cut into 8 pieces
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1/2-1 serrano or jalapeño pepper, halved and de-seeded
- 1 bunch of fresh cilantro, bottom stems cut off
- Juice of 2 limes
- 1 Tbsp white vinegar
- 1/2 tsp champagne vinegar
- 2 tsp sea salt, more if desired
- 1 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- pinch of black pepper
Directions:
- Place a fine mesh sieve over a bowl and drain the juice out of the canned tomatoes. (You should have about a cup of juice. Save it in case you want to thin out your salsa at the end.)
- Add the onions, cilantro, strained tomatoes, and the rest of the ingredients to a high powered blender and pulse until you reach your desired consistency.
You can serve this salsa immediately, but it develops more flavor after a few hours.
Test Kitchen Notes
Putting the onions in the blender first helps chop up the onions and keeps the tomatoes from becoming a purée.
If you prefer a thinner salsa, add in some of the tomato juice you drained off the canned tomatoes.
